are?
1. Are you a licensed contractor?
No. We are classified as a shed retailer/manufacturer so we are limited on only delivering portable wood sheds that do not require permits, which is typically 120 sqft or less (NOTE: installations for metal carports, metal sheds and metal buildings are always installed by a licensed and bonded local contractor).

2. Will my wood shed require a building permit?
Since we are a shed retailer/manufacturer we only offer sheds that are 120sq ft or less that do not require permits. Some cities locally enforce size, height and set-back
restrictions. To be safe, call your local building department to find out.

3. Will I need to pour a cement slab or make some other type of foundation?
Usually not. My sheds include a built-in floor which we elevate on cement blocks
and treated runners. This is sufficient for almost all shed uses. There are some
uses, such as a backyard office, where I do recommend you arrange to have a slab
or sunken piers installed before we deliver your shed.
4. Will my shed need to be anchored?
No. Unlike metal sheds, mine are very heavy. They won’t get blown around. Another
benefit to remaining “portable” is that your shed won’t require additional property
taxes. (return to
top)
5. Will my shed need to be painted?
Yes. If you don’t want to mess with painting, I offer it at an extra charge if you’re
in our normal delivery area. (return to top)
6. How will you get my shed into my back yard?
We deliver it in pieces and assemble it on site.
7. How much space is needed to assemble the shed in my yard?
My installers need 18" of clear workspace around the shed. If you need your shed
placed against a fence or wall, we may be able to move it in place after the shed
is built. (return
to top)
8. What if my spot is not very level?
We can level your shed with blocks and shims up to 8 inches. But if you slope is
greater, you will need to have the spot leveled in advance.
9. Do I have a choice in the placement of door, windows, shelving etc.?
You can have them placed almost wherever you choose. We’ll assist you with these
decisions when you place your order.
10. Can I buy ValleyShed shed kit?
Effective assembly techniques for my type of sheds usually take several months of
training so they are not available as do-it-yourself kits.
11. Can I provide my own doors and windows and have you install them for me?
This often creates more problems than any money it might save because our installers
are trained on our standard doors & windows. If possible we will try to use
yours, but I can’t offer a discount because it involves extra labor for us. In addition,
I would not be able to offer you a complete warranty.

12. Can I get any type of roof shingle that I want for my shed?
Unfortunately, we are not equipped to handle all types of roofing. Our sheds come
standard with a 20 yr. 3-tab shingle. For a nicer look, we offer an optional25 yr.
dimensional shingle in a wide range of colors. If you want something different,
you will need to find someone else to do your roofing.

13. I’m looking for something different. Can you change the design of your sheds?
You can pick and choose from many features, but our basic design remains the same.
14. I don’t see a size I need on your price list. Can I have a custom size made?
Perhaps. They are dealt with on an individual basis.
15. How long will I wait for my shed?
Our backlog varies from 2 to 4 weeks. The installation usually takes one day. (return to top)
16. Is there sales tax on the total price?
Yes. The State Board of Equalization classifies our detached, free-standing sheds
as “personal property” rather than “real property.” They require sales tax to be
collected on the total price the same as any taxable item you would purchase at
a store. (return
to top)
17. Why do you require a 50% deposit to reserve a building date?
We spend 50% in materials and labor preparing your new shed for delivery and assembly.
We also run a tight schedule and are often booking weeks in advance. Your deposit
assures me you’ll be ready on your assigned date, and covers our costs if you cancel
or postpone at the last minute.
18. I’m not ready to order, but can someone check my site now so I’ll know what
my options are?
Yes, but I charge the $50 fee if we perform this service in advance of your order.
When you do eventually place an order, I will then credit back the $50 toward your
purchase. (return
